Power Flushing

The facts are straightforward. Take a look at the photos of many Flushes we do every year. The photos clearly show the relevance of why your system may need a  flush.

Symptoms :

“WHEN INSTALLING ALL NEW BOILERS THE BENCHMARK STATEMENT REQUIRES THAT THE INSTALLER POWER FLUSHES THE SYSTEM” THE QUESTION IS WAS YOURS DONE??

Many manufacturers are voiding the warranties on boilers due to large amount of black magnetite(Sludge) in the system. Combi style boilers are now widespread and although are a great boiler system, suffer with one draw back. Sludge in the system dramatically reduces the output of Hot water, sometimes to a point where the boiler will often “Lock out” or overheat. This is due to the lack of circulation thru the Hot water circuit of the boiler.  In the past the manufacturers have replaced the hot water heat exchanger. But now things have changed ! They recognise that many boilers have been replaced or installed without a powerflush or insufficient cleaning. Subsequently the system works for 6 months to a year then fails either within warranty or out. Either way the boiler with prematurely fail at some point. The point is that if  installed correctly at the beginning will last a lot longer.

Power Flushing What to Expect:

We normally arrive at 8.00am and start with a quick run through of what the problems are ,with the system and any concerns. Then its straight to work. Firstly dust sheets and any protection on any surfaces.  We will need access to the loft if there are any water tanks (F/E Tank)  The water will have to be turned off if there is no stopcock in the loft. Then the tank in the loft will be taken out and outlets capped of or looped over to provide circulation to the rest of the system.

The Circulation pump is then turned off and its place taken by our Kamco Power flushing pump. This is a low pressure High volume pump that allows us to circulate large amounts of chemical (FX2) around the heating system to agitate the sludge build up.We move the debris around the radiators to finally get attached to our Magnetic filter. Each radiator is powerfully cleaned for some 10+ Minutes in both directions with chemical descaler. Then the process is repeated for the rinse cycle.. Then a final neutraliser is added to remove and final traces of Acid in the system. Once we are satisfied that the system is thoroughly clean and rinsed only then will we remove our pump and equipment and reinstate the either old pump or supply new pump for peace of mind for future. Its sometimes good practice that if any radiator valves have given any cause for concern that these would be replaced prior to the flush. All waste products will be flushed down the soil (toilet Waste). A clear representation of just how clean or dirty your system would have been , will be evident on the magnetic filter that we will show you at the end of the flush. The tank is then replaced having been thoroughly cleaned, and then inhibitor is entered into the system leaving your system in top condition. The boiler will then be fired up and checked for output to radiators and hot water cylinder. At the end of the process you will have a thoroughly clean system that will be Efficient and actually save you money by conserving the energy needed to heat the property.

Please not we always inform our customers of any concerns with your system to keep you informed of what going on and in what condition your system is in. The whole process can take up to 8 hours depending on condition.
